This study investigates efforts to increase the role of ulama in promoting religious tolerance. A region with a strong Muslim majority, faces challenges in promoting tolerance and harmony between religious communities. By strengthening the role of ulama as spiritual and social leaders in society, it is hoped that it can increase understanding and practice of religious tolerance. The methods used include in-depth interviews and literature analysis to gain a comprehensive understanding of this issue. The results show that a coordinated and sustainable approach, as well as empowering ulama through education, training and advocacy, can increase their role in encouraging a more inclusive and sustainable attitude of religious tolerance.
